A Cambridgeshire drug dealer has been jailed after being caught operating a £80,000 cannabis farm.

Police from the East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team carried out a warrant in North Street, Wicken, on 6 September and found 120 plants of varying sized inside.

Albert Dakaj was inside the property and attempted to escape through the back door.

Dakaj, 28, of no fixed address, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court this month, where he was jailed for eight months after previously pleading guilty to production of cannabis.

PC Joe Dockerill, from the East Cambs Neighbourhood Team, said: “This sentence underscores our commitment to tackling drug-related crime in our community, reinforcing the message that illegal drug cultivation will not be tolerated in Cambridgeshire.

“We implore our residents to remain vigilant for signs of illegal cannabis factories, such as blacked-out windows, unusual smells, and frequent visitors at irregular hours. Should anyone encounter these signs, they should report it to us immediately.”
