A drug dealer was caught in the act by plain clothed police officers in Cambridge as part of an operation to tackle drug-related crime. Pavlin Lekndreaj, 22, was seen by officers dealing drugs in the city earlier this month.

They called for uniformed officers, who arrested Lekndreaj and found 20 wraps of cocaine on him with a street value of up to £1,200.

Lekndreaj, of no fixed abode, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court last week (26 October).

Detective Sergeant Mark Hodgson, who investigated, said: “This is a great result where we’ve managed to take a substantial amount of drugs and a dealer off our streets.

“It shows the value in our covert operations and how seriously we take these crimes.

“Alongside our work, members of the public are our eyes and ears, and I would urge them to report any suspicious activity to us as soon as possible.”

More information on how to spot and report drug dealing can be found on Cambridgeshire Police website.
