Cambridgeshire man among victims of M6 crash which killed five

A man from Cambridgeshire was among five people – including two children – killed in a crash on the M6 in Cumbria on Tuesday.

The man was driving a Skoda that was involved in a crash with a Toyota; a man, woman and two children in the Toyota also died.

The collision happened on the M6 Northbound, past Tebay services, on Tuesday at 4pm.

Police said a third child, who was travelling in the Toyota, survived and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service sent four appliances to the scene and remained for some hours to help clear the motorway.

An appeal has been launched by police for witnesses to the horrific crash.

“We are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the M6 Northbound past Tebay Services,” said a Cumbria police spokesperson.

“Officers were called to the incident at 4:04pm yesterday (Oct 15)

“The families of those involved are being supported by specially trained officers.

“The M6 Northbound full reopened in the early hours of this morning.”
