A Cambridge shoplifter has been jailed for 26 weeks.

Owen Graham, of Discovery Way, Cambridge, was handed the sentence at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (3 June) after being arrested by police in the city on Friday (2 June) for a string of offences.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of shop theft on 8 January and 31 March at Co-Ops in Milton and Chesterton where he stole washing products worth more than £100.

He also pleaded guilty to four counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The 45-year-old was given a two-year CBO on 13 May 2021 not to enter any TX Maxx, Co-Op, Boots, Saves, Sainsbury’s, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, and Homebase store in Cambridge or within the boundary of the M11, A11 and A14.

PC Ryan Rankin said: “Graham has a flagrant disregard for court orders. He is a prolific thief with a number of thefts against his name.

“As well as causing a financial loss to businesses, his behaviour towards shop workers is often abusive and unacceptable. We hope this sentence will provide some respite to businesses in the city.”
