Driver in Peterborough reported for five offences

Police say a trailer overloaded with tyres was “a collision waiting to happen”.

The vehicle and trailer were stopped in Maskew Avenue, Peterborough, at 1.30pm on Tuesday.

With tyres spilling out onto the road this was a collision waiting to happen.

“Tyres were spilling out onto the road – this was a collision waiting to happen,” said a spokesperson for Peterborough police.

The vehicle was “escorted to a safe place to be assessed”.

*Having faulty lights

*No number plate

*A defective wing mirror

*Not using a tachograph

The police spokesperson added: “The faults on the vehicle will need to be repaired before it is released.”
