A man broke bail conditions, returned to his home when told not to, and punched and kicked the front door, threatening to kill everyone inside. Gheorghe Badelita, 53, argued with the victim on 18 December at their home in Burmer Road, New England, Peterborough.

He punched and slapped her, before telling her that he was going to kill her, a court heard.

Badelita was arrested and later released on bail with conditions not to go to Burmer Road or contact the victim or witnesses.

The following day Badelita returned to the house, punching, and kicking the front door whilst making threats to kill everyone inside.

He then picked up a brick and threw it at the door, causing damage to it, the court was told.

Police were called and Badelita was arrested again.

He denied three counts of making threats to kill, common assault and criminal damage, but was found guilty following a trial at Huntingdon Law Courts in July.

On Monday (2 September) at the same court he was jailed for 28 months. He was also given a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.

PC Rebecca Risebrow said: “Badelita terrified the victim in this case with his awful treatment of her. I’m pleased he has now faced justice for his actions.

“Tackling domestic abuse is one of our priorities. We’re committed to protecting victims of crime and doing all we can to prosecute those responsible.”
