Lorry driver rescued from flooded A1101 Welney Wash

The road is impassable by normal road vehicles

A lorry driver was rescued from Welney Wash early today after the driver was forced to abandon his vehicle. Fire crews from Littleport, Outwell, King’s Lynn and Methwold were called to the scene to ensure the driver was brought to safety.

The fire crews left the scene at 6.40am.

Local Facebook group Welney Flood Watch reports the “rising river level at Welney has slowed overnight currently at 3.25m which means 1.0m/39inches deep on the centre line of the Wash road this morning, deeper on that eastern side.

“The road is impassable by normal road vehicles so FIND ANOTHER ROUTE for the rest of this week”.
