Razor sharp metal shavings have been strewn along a path in March, Cambridgeshire, which is popular with cyclists, walkers, and dog walkers. The bizarre act of deliberate vandalism appeared on Tuesday according to a CambsNews reader who alerted us to it.

It has also angered the voluntary group Rings End Nature Reserve committee who issued a statement on Facebook saying they had “been made aware of aluminium waste along the path of the nature reserves north of Whitemoor prison”.

Their post added: “Please note this appears to only be south of the footbridge (Whitemoor Nature Reserve) and not north of the river / carpark (Rings End Nature Reserve).

“Please be aware as it’s going to be very sharp. The prison have been made aware.

The committee says they are trying to resolve the issue quickly and were “just trying to work out when it happened so we can narrow down what’s happened”.

Although it is not on the nature reserve area the committee statement said it was “horrible to see anyway though. Nature reserves deserve to be treated better than this and hopefully whoever is responsible will be caught”.
